Bjørg Sandal joins Proactima

Bjørg will work within the consultancy network Proactima Project Services. Her duties will include participating in the Media Response Team, Proactima’s on-call service for crisis communication. Bjørg comes to us with long experience dealing with issues within communications. Contact with the authorities and stakeholder work are two areas of expertise she will bring to Proactima. She has held several high-stakes communications jobs, and has been through a number of demanding changeover processes.

In her work as State Secretary, she was a part of the Norwegian government’s executive arm and worked closely with the parliament and policymakers throughout the country.

“With Bjørg, we get a range of specialized skills, especially concerning contact with the authorities and strategic stakeholder work. We and our clients will obtain knowledge and experience within some of the most demanding and exciting areas within communications today,” says the head of Proactima’s Stavanger office, Rune Sjursen.

Over the years, Bjørg has worked in the public and private sectors. In addition, she has extensive political experience. She began in the oil and gas sector in 1987, in Phillips Petroleum Company Norway (now ConocoPhillips).

Afterwards, she was the State Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy in Stoltenberg’s first cabinet, before becoming Communications Director in the Western Norway Regional Health Authority at its founding in 2002.

In 2010, she began working as Communications Director at Aibel, where she was responsible for the company’s internal and external communication, including contact with the authorities, reputation building and media relations.

Bjørg was a part of the core leadership team in both Aibel and the Western Norway Regional Health Authority.

Bjørg Sandal has held several appointments, including at the University of Stavanger, Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology and at present in the recently established NORCE (Norwegian Research Center).

In addition, she has been politically active, both in Sola and Stavanger, and has served on several committees and commissions locally and nationally, in both a political and communications capacity.

Bjørg studied Nordic studies, social studies and German at the University of Bergen, and media at the Volda District College.

She has already begun working in her position as a Proactima consultant and can be reached at (+47) 483 93 775 or bjorg.sandal@proactima.com.
