Go-Ahead is the winner!

Proactimas project manager Cathrine Elgin was pleased when it was announced that Go-Ahead is the winner of the contract for operating the three important railways Arendalsbanen, Sørlandsbanen and Jærbanen.

For the first time the British company Go-Ahead has signed up for the competition to operate railways in Norway. Now the company is thus responsible for operating the three stretches covered  in “Pakke Sør”. Cathrine Elgin works in Proactima and is the project manager for Go-Ahead`s tender process. In addition to Cathrine, there are more team members from Proactima and also from other  companies.

“This is a breakthrough for Go-Ahead here in Norway,” says Elgin, who added that the thrill was to take and feel before the decision was announced. She also emphasizes the good cooperation in the process, both internally in the team and with stakeholders involved.

The process

The tender competition was published in November 2017, but even earlier, Cathrine was well in process of preparing for Go-Ahead; an input that was part of the strategic decision to participate in the Norwegian competition. When the tender was issued, Cathrine and the rest of the team, all with solid and relevant competence, started working on the offer.

“In addition, we have had a good dialogue and support from Go-Ahead`s Nordic office in Malmø as well as the company`s office in London,” says Elgin, who is located in Proactimas Oslo office, together with the rest of the team.

What happens now?

Immediately, a mobilization team will be established, which will also be led by Elgin. This team has a good year for planning and facilitating the start-up, which is set for December 2019.

The three companies in the run-up were NSB, Swedish SJ and Go-Ahead.

This is Go-Ahead:

Go-Ahead is one of the UK`s leading public transport providers. The company operates both bus and rail services enabling over one billion trips each year. In the United Kingdom, Go-Ahead accounts for about 30 percent of all train journeys. In London, the company is the largest provider of bus travel, as well as approximately 11 percent of the regional bus journeys being delivered by Go-Ahead. The company also operates bus services in Singapore and in Ireland.

This is the first time Go-Ahead is participating in a tender competition for operation of rail services in Norway.

The company has 29,000 employees and is headquartered in Newcastle.

(Photo: Elisabeth Tønnessen)

Stavanger, 11 September 2018: Proactima AS has signed a contract with the oil company OKEA to assist with consultancy services for OKEA’s takeover of the operatorship of the Draugen field in the Norwegian Sea. The agreement has a value of over 10 million NOK and will last through the end of 2018.
Proactima’s main task is to support OKEA until they take over the operatorship on 1 December this year.

“OKEA selected Proactima because the company has the necessary combination of expertise and experience. Proactima has a sound knowledge of OKEA i.e. through developing the management system”, says Dag Eggan, SVP HSE in OKEA.

Robust and effective solutions
Proactima will contribute in the following disciplines: management system, compliance management, risk management, barrier management, HSE management, external environment, securing, emergency preparedness, operations and HR. A total of 15 staff are working on this contract.

“This is an important and exciting contract for us, where we really get a chance to mobilise the core expertise of our company. The work is well underway, and our ambition is to deliver robust, effective solutions that enable OKEA to take over the operatorship in a safe way at the agreed time,” says Trond Winther, CEO of Proactima AS.

Interdisciplinary team
Proactima has a long-time partnership with A/S Norske Shell and therefore excellent knowledge of the company and the installations included in the OKEA portfolio. Additionally, Proactima has worked closely for a long time with OKEA on for instance developing a management system and on risk management.

“OKEA is an innovative company that challenges the established ways of doing things. We are proud to have gained OKEA’s confidence as a result of our professionalism and expertise, our experience with similar transitional projects and our ability to find good, customised solutions,” Winther continues. Our task from here on will be to ensure that the transition from Shell to OKEA is as smooth as possible. Proactima’s services will be carried out by staff from the company’s Trondheim office, with assistance from the Stavanger headquarters and the offices in Oslo and Bergen.

About OKEA
OKEA was established in 2015 with high ambitions in development and production on the Norwegian continental shelf. This June, OKEA AS acquired Norske Shell’s shares of 44.56 per cent as well as the operatorship of the Draugen field in the Norwegian Sea. Included in this acquisition were also Shell’s shares of 12 per cent in the Gjøa field. This acquisition makes OKEA one of the largest operators on the Norwegian continental shelf with a total expected production of approximately 22,000 barrels of oil equivalents per day.

Crisis management training

In November, Norges Bank carried out a full-scale emergency preparedness exercise: a bombing at the bank’s offices in London gave the preparedness organisation an authentic test. The exercise involved several partners at the bank’s offices in both Oslo and London.

Proactima supported the bank in planning and carrying out the exercise, along with contributing 17 persons as role players.

“The training gave us a lot of the answers we needed. We saw that much of the preparations are adequate, but there are some areas where we could be doing even better. I’m glad that the errors and areas to improve were found in an exercise and not in a real incident. In addition, we look forward to conducting a similar major exercise in 2018,” says Norges Bank’s special adviser, Simen Østgaard.

Norges Bank has a general agreement With Proactima for preparedness services.

Findings from the exercise will now form the basis of a further, sharpened practice run for the preparedness organisation.
